Each year, U.S.-based scientists contribute over $1.5 billion in unpaid labor through peer review. While peer review is essential to the advancement of science, this effort is often underappreciated—or used to support profit-driven publishing models.

At Researchers' Journal of Internal Medicine, we see peer reviewers not just as gatekeepers, but as collaborators in scientific progress. That’s why we offer a $20 honorarium for select reviews as a small token of appreciation for their time and expertise. Reviewers may also choose to support our broader mission by donating their honorarium back to RJIM or forwarding it to a charitable organization of their choice.
