Brian Elliott graduated from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Internal Medicine Residency Program, and is completing his fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His research focuses on Point-of-Care Ultrasonography and curriculum development, previously earning a national award from the American College of Physicians. He is also the author of White Coat Ways: A History of Medical Traditions and Their Battle with Progress.

Abhimanyu Chandel is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine physician and researcher based in Washington, DC. He completed Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and holds a master’s degree in applied statistics from Pennsylvania State University. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and Georgetown University School of Medicine and serves as the internal medicine clerkship site director at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His clinical research focuses primarily on the acute respiratory distress syndrome, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Kathryn Burtson is the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at Wright State University. A dedicated medical educator, Dr. Burtson is an Associate Professor at both the Uniformed Services University and Wright State University. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in health Professions Education at the Uniformed Services University, focusing her research on academic coaching, feedback strategies, and curriculum development. Dr. Burtson received her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Michael McMahon, MD is a military pulmonary and critical care physician, serves as the Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University. Dr. McMahon completed his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College before pursuing his Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Walter Reed. His research interests focus on deployment-related lung disease and venous thromboembolism. As a member of the Board of Directors, Dr. McMahon is excited to help the Researchers’ Journal of Internal Medicine reach its vision of creating a more accessible and equitable publication process.
